Year Four Maths Page
Welcome to our class Maths page. Here you can find all the information about what we are teaching, home learning and games you can play.
This term we will continue to build on our knowledge, skills and understanding from across a range of areas of the mathematics curriculum.
In week one we will be off timetable due to Life Skills Week.
In week two we will be working on written methods for multiplication and division.
Week three will be focused around statistics, interpreting data and solving problems.
In week four we will problem solving using fractions, decimals and percentages.
In weeks five and six the children will be consolidating measurement and number and place value.
In the final week of term we will be doing some maths investigations.
It is paramount that your children are working hard each day to secure ALL the multiplication and corresponding division facts up to 12 x 12. Please encourage them at home to learn these.
Home learning will continue to be set on a Thursday, to be handed in by the following Tuesday. Sometimes home learning will be set on MyMaths and other times the children will have work to complete in their home learning books. Your continued help and support with your child’s maths learning is greatly appreciated.
HELPING AT HOME
How you can help your child at home to improve their maths:
* Encourage, help and support them to learn the multiplication and corresponding division facts up to 12 x 12.
* Ask them to write numbers, in both figures and words, up to 10000.
* Ask them to multiply three single digit numbers together eg. 3 x 2 x 3. They may need to use a multiplication square to help them. One can be accessed opposite.
* Encourage them to use a range of different strategies to add and subtract two digit numbers eg. 45 + 39 or 73 - 14. The online random number generator linked opposite could be fun to use.
