Term 6
Welcome to our Year 5 class web page for Term 6. We have an exciting term ahead filled with a wide range of topics and activities that will engage and inspire our students. Here's a sneak peek at what we will be covering in the coming weeks.
In our geography lessons, we will be exploring Britain's national parks and discovering who they are for. Students will learn about the diverse landscapes, wildlife, and recreational opportunities that these parks offer, and how they are protected and preserved for future generations to enjoy.
Building on our previous study of the ancient Greeks, our English lessons will delve into Odysseus' epic travels in Homer's Odyssey. Students will explore the adventures, challenges, and mythical creatures encountered by Odysseus, and will have the opportunity to create their own exciting poetry inspired by his journey.
In PE, students will focus on developing their skills in athletics, fielding and batting skills in either rounders or cricket. They will learn about teamwork, sportsmanship, and healthy competition while improving their skillset. Swimming will also be a key component of our PE curriculum this term, we are so fortunate to have our own pool.
In Forest School our students will have the chance to connect with nature and engage in hands-on outdoor learning through our forest school sessions. They will explore the natural environment, develop practical skills, and foster a deeper appreciation for the world around them.
We are thrilled to announce that this term, our students will be preparing for an exciting summer production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. They will have the opportunity to showcase their talents in singing, acting, and dancing, while working together to bring this beloved musical to life on stage.
We are looking forward to a term filled with learning, creativity, and fun, and we can't wait to embark on these educational adventures together!
