Year 3 have been exploring cave paintings.  They looked at some examples and thought about what they liked about them, then they practised recreating their own using earthy colours and charcoal.  Over a few weeks they have created their own rocks by using Modroc which dries hard. They then painted this surface grey to represent stone, before adding their final cave designs.  The children have really enjoyed this project and it was taught them a lot not only about using different media and working on different surfaces and textures, but also about the process - taking their time, working together and being creative!
