Football report

On Wednesday 19th March, after a long-wet winter, the year 5&6 boys finally kicked off their league season. When last in action, we ran out convincing winners of the Wadhurst tournament so excitement filled the air as the boys and their ever-present management team of Mr. Neill and Mr. Leach travelled over to Forest Row – a big thank you to the parents for transporting them.
We started the game slowly and went 1-0 behind midway through the first half but this proved to be the catalyst that was needed as from this point on, we rediscovered our identity – we pressed effectively, passed well on a tricky pitch and after a half-time pep talk, we took control of the game. First to score was goal-machine Freddie L who gleefully ran onto an excellent pass before unleashing a low shot into the bottom corner. 1-1. Not long after, an excellent corner was expertly guided home, again by Freddie L, to give us the lead for the first time in the match. It was a good close game and as time looked to be running out, George latched onto a through-ball and brilliantly scored from an acute angle to give us a well-earned 3-1 victory and a great start to the league season. Ben made some fantastic saves, especially early in the game to keep us in it and there was some great solid defending from Mally, George and Dillon. Henry, Jimmy and Zac ran tirelessly and linked up well in midfield whilst Alfie and Freddie provided good focal points in attack. Well done boys.
