Year 3 have been learning all about Earthquakes.  They have been working together to make different structures and testing them out to see which ones would last the longest on their earthquake jelly! 

They learnt that triangles were stronger than squares and the lower buildings lasted longer than taller ones. The children then tried strengthening  their ideas by experimenting with double sticks and adding spikes into the jelly to secure them into the ground.  They also discovered that the buildings with a wider base were stronger and wobbled less.
