Year 3 School trip to Wakehurst Place
Fri 19 Apr 2024Year 3 have had a fabulous day today at Wakehurst as part of their science curriculum. They dissected plants and looked at them up close under the microscopes, then they went for a walk around the gardens to look at pollinators in action.
After an ice-cream treat at lunch (thanks to our cake sale money) we created some art with natural materials to represent the flowers and pollinators. Each group took it in turn to talk about what they had learnt the features they had included in their plant.
Many thanks to our parent volunteers for accompanying us on our day!

Year 3 Art - Fabric Painting
Fri 22 Mar 2024Year 3 have been exploring the art work of Alice Kettle. She paints gigantic landscapes using paint on fabric and then stitching the detail. Here Year 3 are practising painting on fabric, seeing how colour mixing and brushstrokes have an effect. They also then practised adding stitches to their painted samples. Knot tying, threading needles and working out where to sew were all problems we overcame!
If any year 3 parents would like to support our sewing, we will be doing some more on Monday afternoon!
