The Good Shepherd - Worth Abbey, RE Council
Sat 29 Jun 2024On Thursday, our Year 6 R.E. council members represented the school at the Diocese's annual Good Shepherd celebration. The children travelled to Worth Abbey and met with children from the other 76 Catholic primary schools across our Diocese. The theme of this year's celebration was our Lord's prayer - The Our Father.
Over the past few weeks, the Year 6 R.E. council members have been creating a beautiful cross decorated with The Our Father prayer written in different languages representing the nationalities which make up our school community. During the service, our children presented this cross to Bishop Richard who was impressed with the children's hard work. The cross is now displayed in our school's entrance foyer.
The Year 6 children represented our school with pride and thoroughly enjoyed this experience.

Year 6 Forest School
Sat 29 Jun 2024In this week's Forest School, Year 6 spent some time cooking! We made nettle soup for the whole group, and used the left-over stalks to make into strong string which could be used in our crafting area. We all helped to collect the nettles, peeled potatoes and chopped up garlic and onions from our garden. It was surprisingly tasty and many went back for seconds! Quite a few of us also spent some time tree climbing, with a buddy to spot us and instructing the climbers of a safe passage.

Year 6 Science lessons about the circulatory system
Fri 14 Jun 2024On Tuesday in Science, Year 6 learnt about blood and all the components within it that help to make our body work. We created our own visual representations of blood: complete with red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets and plasma. We then spoke about giving blood, and why it is important to help other people. We researched about the eight different blood types and the process of what happens to the blood we donate. We plan to write our own letters to persuade more people to give blood to help save lives.

Year 3 have been investigating Shape in their Maths lessons
Fri 14 Jun 2024This week in maths we have been learning lots about shapes. We have built upon the terms horizontal, vertical and diagonal to learn about perpendicular and parallel lines, and thought about different sized angles, identifying acute, obtuse and right angles in the classroom and in shapes. These are tricky concepts to remember and Mrs Cook was very proud of the children's efforts.
