  • Green class Maths learning - All about shapes

    Fri 19 Jan 2024

This week in maths, we have been focusing upon shape.

We have been learning all about different polygons and trying hard to define them.  We have also found out about turning clockwise (in the same direction as  a clock) and anticlockwise (turning the opposite way).

We have been using compass points to help solve problems and relating quarter, half and three quarter turns to number of right angles.  We have also been identifying right angles in polygons and exploring patterns.

  • Forest School Final week for Year 3 - Dens and dough!

    Thu 18 Jan 2024

This was the final week of Forest School fun for Year 3.  They had an excellent day building more dens using their lashing skills from last week - lots were also brave enough to test them out with a bucket of water to see how secure and waterproof they were!

The children also used loppers to safely cut their own cooking sticks before whittling them to remove the bark and used them to cook their dough over the fire.

The children loved creating delicious fillings from berries, seeds and honey.

  • Yellow Class Maths Multiplication learning

Thu 18 Jan 2024 Mrs Leach

On Thursday the children in Year 2 were introduced to the multiplication symbol to represent groups of objects.

For example, 'three groups of five' as '3x 5'.

They could confidently draw groups of objects and record the correct multiplication number sentence to go with it.

  • Young Voices Concert at the O2 in London

    Mon 15 Jan 2024

Some of our Year 5 & 6 pupils participated in the the Young Voices on Monday.

Our pupils joined over 5000 other children to perform as a single choir at the O2 Arena in London alongside amazing artists.

The children left our school by coach in the morning for rehearsal time at the O2.  Many parents and family members came to the O2 in the evening for the concert.  The children and parents alike have said what an incredible experience it was for them.  The concert is the culmination of a lot of hard work from the children and staff for the event.

We are very thankful to Miss Morley and all the staff that helped with rehearsals and supervising the trip to London.  We are also grateful for the parents' support, that has helped make this unforgettable experience possible for the children possible.

  • Year 4 - Starjik inspired learning

    Fri 12 Jan 2024

  • Year 3 Forest School - skills learned this week.

    Thu 11 Jan 2024

This week, the Year 3s enjoyed a sunny day at forest school.

They had a chance to practise their fire lighting skills with Mrs. Gorringe and use a range of tools to practise hammering in nails, drilling and sawing.

They also worked well together to make fantastic dens using a new skill of lashing wood together with twine.

Next week is our last week at Forest School - please remember a spare pair of shoes so that the mud from outside doesn't get walked down the corridor and into the classroom.
