  • World Prayer Day 2025

    Fri 07 Mar 2025

The children were able to celebrate World Prayer Day with the help of Mrs Ludgate who shared different ways for us all to pray as well as emphazing the importance of prayer in our lives. A big thank you to Mrs Ludgate for sharing her ideas and activities with us - it was a very special event for us all.

If you would like to add a prayer to our prayer tree or post a prayer postcard then please come into our school foyer where you will find these special prayer areas.

  • Book Week 2025 Activities

    Thu 06 Mar 2025

We have all been enjoying our Book Week  focusing on our chosen book 'Wind in the Willows'. It has been great fun making things, acting out scenes from the book and even having a Book Fair to go to.

  • World Book Day

    Thu 06 Mar 2025

Year 6 and Year 3 had a great morning buddying up.  The two year groups joined in the sunshine to talk about the books and characters they like and listened to extracts from each other's books.  Afterwards, we had some fun relay races in which the children had to work together to rearrange letters to form the answers to some book related questions - this was a great opportunity to share our knowledge of books and help support each other with our spelling!

  • Beacon Cluster Netball Tournament

    Thu 06 Mar 2025

"Well done to our Year 6 Girls who represented St Mary's at the Beacon Cluster Netball Tournament on Tuesday. They played brilliantly as a team and got better with every match!"

  • Ash Wednesday

    Thu 06 Mar 2025

The whole school attended Ash Wednesday mass at St Mary's Catholic Church. We all thought about our Lenten promises and what we could do for others during this time.

  • Shrove Tuesday Assembly

    Wed 05 Mar 2025

Mrs Lawlor explained the meaning of Shrove Tuesday to the whole school in Assembly.  Great fun was had by all competing in a pancake flipping competition.

  • St David's Day

    Fri 28 Feb 2025

Today yellow team celebrated St David's day by wearing something yellow. The team's house captains led the whole school assembly and helped us understand who St David was and the good things he did for others throughout his life.

Yellow house then had a cup of squash and a biscuit to celebrate their special House day.

  • Visit to the post office

    Fri 28 Feb 2025

On Wednesday 26th February, the children in Year Two visited the Post Office. The children have been learning about writing informal letters and they were very excited to post their letter which they wrote to one of their classmates. They had an extra treat as we also had a guided tour of Crowborough's Police Station as well!

  • Stone Soup

    Fri 28 Feb 2025

At the end of last term, Year 3 made their own delicious 'stone soup'.

In RE we are learning about the Eucharist.  We read the story about a beggar who no one wants to help.  He explains that he wants to have one last meal before he leaves, so he starts to make a soup. Everyone in the village ends up contributing an ingredient and before they know it they have created a delicious soup together and have a great time sharing in their joint creation.

Thank you to everyone who contributed an ingredient to our soup - we had a fabulous day peeling, chopping, slicing and dicing.  We then put everything in the pot and when it was cooked and soft we put it in the blender to mix it all up!

  • Forest School - a new shelter

    Mon 24 Feb 2025

A huge thankyou to Tom Woodgate and the team from T C Woodgate Tree Surgery for supporting St Marys Primary by setting up a secure shelter line for us in our forest school area. This will mean we will now be able to raise a waterproof shelter quickly and easily whenever we need to, keeping us cosy and dry on even the wettest of Forest School days!
